Outdoor Environment

The outdoor environment at Montessori Weaver School was planned and developed with the same care and preparation as the indoor space.  Wooden hive structures, trees, and logs provide opportunities for climbing and the large fenced-in area gives the children a chance to run and play.

The children pass the garden which they plant with seasonal fruits, vegetables, and flowers as they walk from the building to the playground and sometime stop to harvest a leaf of lettuce, kale, or spinach.

The chickens that are housed at the end of the playground enjoy visits from the students who feed them blades of grass through the wire.  Egg collecting is a daily treat for the children.

A natural approach to everything in the MWS outdoor environment makes it a place where the students can exercise, imagine, and be creative.  It’s a place where a deep love for and appreciation of nature is formed.
